Charles Marlow: Owner
The owner, Charlie Marlow has 27 years of experience working for Mercedes dealerships. He spent 14 years, up to Aug. 2007, as shop foreman at the local Mercedes dealership in Monterey. Charlie has a long history of Mercedes factory training. While working for Mercedes, he attended several classes a year to stay up to date in all technical areas of Mercedes-Benz cars, as well as attended advanced specialized training offered only to the shop foremen of dealerships. Since 1990 Charlie has qualified as one of the top 200 Mercedes technicians in the nation (out of a field of over 3,000), earning him the title of “Master Technician.” Six of the times he qualified as one of the top 30 technicians in the nation earning him the title of “Master Guild Technician;” this enabled him to attend Mercedes training in Germany. Charlie’s wife Leslee and daughter Kim have also had past experience at Mercedes dealerships in different areas. Our family not only knows Mercedes inside and out, but we are passionate for Mercedes and support all the brand stands for.
Cary Smith: Service Manager
Cary Smith came to work at Marlow Mercedes-Werks in December 2010. Prior to joining our team, Cary worked at the local Mercedes-Benz dealership for 27 years. The past 12 years Cary was a service advisor at Mercedes-Benz, and prior to becoming an advisor Cary was a factory trained Mercedes technician. While at the dealership, Cary attended Mercedes factory training as both a technician and an advisor. Cary is knowledgeable in all Mercedes service and repair needs.
Roger Heckel: Master Guild Technician
Roger Heckel came to work at Marlow Mercedes-Werks in August 2010. Prior to joining our team, Roger worked at the local Mercedes-Benz dealership for nearly 30 years. In 2003 Roger qualified as one of the top 50 Mercedes-Benz technicians in the nation, earning him the title of “Master Guild Technician” and enabling him to attend Mercedes training in Germany. At the dealership Roger was a Team Leader. Roger was responsible for multiple technicians and therefore, responsible for the proper repair and maintenance of multiple cars at one time. Roger has been Mercedes factory trained in all Mercedes models up through 2010, including completion of Mercedes S-class hybrid training.
Derek Hanakahi came to work at Marlow Mercedes-Werks January 2010. Prior to joining our team, Derek worked at the local Mercedes-Benz dealership as a Master Technician for 7 years. Derek has been factory trained by Mercedes in all models through year 2010. This includes his completion of Mercedes S-class hybrid training. Derek also has past experience working with car audio systems and experience as a field technician in the cellular phone industry. With knowledge of cellular phone technology and car audio systems, Derek is the go-to person for Mercedes audio systems.
Alex Said: Technician
Alex Said has worked at Marlow Mercedes-Werks since it opened. Prior to being a mechanic here, Alex worked 5 years at Skip Barber Racing School, completing all 4 levels of mechanic skills testing. In 2007 Alex had the opportunity to work for a Porsche team at Laguna Seca during the Rolex GS race. Alex has taken many automotive classes from Hartnell College and Monterey Peninsula College. He has also begun Bosch training through us, and has recently completed the Bosch Electrical training. Over the past few years here, Alex has learned and been able to adapt his knowledge of mechanics to specifically focus on Mercedes automobiles.
